Halley Appleby Memorial Trophy
Awarded to the winning team of the annual fixture between the Nudgee College 1st XV and the Brisbane Boys College 1st XV.
Commissioned and introduced in 2015, the 125th year of St Joseph’s Nudgee College, to honour and celebrate the life of a talented Nudgee College Old Boy, Halley Appleby.
In 2011, at 21 years of age, Halley passed away playing the game he loved so dearly. He was one of the UQ Rugby Clubs most popular and wellloved players. Halley attended Nudgee College from 2005 to 2007 as a boarder from the Sunshine Coast. He was captain of the 2nd XV and came off the bench repeatedly for the 1st XV throughout the season. In the time Halley attended Nudgee College, he truly embraced and represented the values of what it means to be a Nudgee College man.
